Parth, an eleven year old boy sitting next to the window seat of the bus looked at a new shiny metallic grey car outside. He fancied the car with his eyes wide open, sparkling bright with amazement. The look on his face clearly displayed his desire to ride in that vehicle. His mother sitting beside also peeped outside, trying to scan in that traffic jam what his son had found interest in.
"Parth, what are you looking at?" His mother asked
"Maa,look at that car! It's a brand new polished car!!"Parth said expressing his excitement
"Oh,so you were constantly looking at that particular car"She gasped
"No Maa,it is no ordinary car!Look, how attractive it is!"Parth exclaimed
"No doubt, son! it does look appealing to ones eyes."She replied calmly
"Maa,please buy me that car, please!!!"He insisted
"Son,as far as i know, this car is very expensive. Even if we get a good fortune still we wont be able to buy it"She replied.
"But i want this car! Only this car!"He begged
"Don't be blind Parth! how could you forget that your father passed away one month back? Since then, we are struggling to fulfill our needs and here you are building castles in the air!"She yelled.
The red signal turned green, the car roared its engine and smoothly glided away.Parth gazed one last time, he felt as if his dream was running away from him.The more he was trying to catch, the farther it went away just like a mirage.
He looked at his mother and asked,"Maa,do you love cars?"
"Of course,i do,son!"She whispered
"In fact, when i was of your age,i dreamed of getting married to a man who would have his own dream house,an exquisite car and a luxurious lifestyle that my parents couldn't afford to provide me with"
"But you never got anything of that sort!"
"My father snatched away your dreams,he was a bad man!"He rebelled
"No,No! He was a nice man but unfortunately he got into a heavy debt and having no choice left us"She revealed the truth
"I feel guilty"He said
"But Maa,did you like that car which we saw a few minutes ago?"
"Indeed! I wish i had all the money to buy you one"She said
"Don't worry,Maa,I give you my word that I'll bring you that one"He promised.
And with that promise the conversation ended.Although, she pitied him for the wretched state but didn't encourage to fulfill his dreams, after all it required a life full of intense labor.
Ten years had passed..
Parth was now a handsome young man possessing a 3bhk flat,a permanent job and finally his dream car.
The dream car for which he had burnt his midnight oil to score good marks, get admission into a prestigious college, earn money and build the life which his mother had pined for.
That day when she wished for all those things, he promised to himself,"Your wish is my command". Although she never asked for it but it was his zeal for accomplishing his mother dreams.
"Today, I have everything you can boast of .The life you once desired for yourself is the one I wanted to share with you.I am living the life which is forbidden by many to dream about.Perhaps, people only see the final master piece not the hard work and years of struggle behind that art.Regardless,if anything is close to my heart,it is no one but you my dear mother! I thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me chase my dreams.I know its not enough and I cannot forget the sacrifices you made for me.Its unforgettable and very much praiseworthy.Oh,how i wish you were here for me to surprise you with this black BMW, finely designed with LED headlights, efficient engine, best mileage, comfy seats and smooth gear handle.I think i would run out of words to describe this perfect machine.Another amazing thing about the car is that it is a newly arrived model. In trend but a classic one. That's all I have got to say, for now I take your leave and shall delight your interests tomorrow."
He said as he left the still photo frame hung on the wall.
Bravo!
